Autonomous Agent

An autonomous agent operates with a high degree of independence. Given a goal — "build this feature," "write this marketing campaign," "fix this bug" — it plans the approach, executes the steps, handles errors, and delivers a result. Human oversight shifts from directing every action to reviewing outcomes.

The degree of autonomy exists on a spectrum. At one end, a copilot suggests code completions (low autonomy). In the middle, an agent writes code but asks for human approval before deploying (supervised autonomy). At the far end, an agent handles entire workflows end-to-end without intervention (full autonomy). Most production systems operate in the supervised middle ground.

They independently handle execution — writing code, running tests, generating content, analyzing data — while a human expert handles strategy, quality review, and client communication. This balance gives you the speed of automation with the judgment of human oversight. The goal is not to remove humans from the loop but to amplify what one human can accomplish.
